Top 9 Movies Bobby Wishes He Did Music For!
We all know about that one movie Bobby co-wrote a song for, but what movies would Bobby REALLY like to see his songs set to? Threadless asked his top 9 choices:
9. The Big Lebowski or the Hudsucker Proxy
I don’t know. I just love those movies, and the Coen Brothers.
8. Goodfellas, or any other gangster film
This would be quite tricky, really, but Goodfellas is my favorite movie. It’s my go to sleep movie. The subject matter would be hard to work my songs to, though. Unless someone died.
6 and 7. Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic
I really like that guy (Seu Jorge) who plays the Brazilian covers of Bowie. These are really eccentric films, and that’s great. My lyrics aren’t that simple, and I use metaphors that aren’t really metaphors. I’d love to write a song about a character – maybe Ben Stiller’s businessman type in Tenenbaums. I do that quite often – write for an elaborate character I’ve made up in my head.
5. Any Old Western
Nothing specific, but these are my favorite films. I love John Wayne. These films always have a lot of beautiful country music.
4. I’m Not There
I’d love to do a Dylan cover.
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I really like that Beck song at the end. I think what I do – acoustic music – would fit pretty well.
2. Wristcutters: A Love Story
Tom Waits actually did the music for this movie, and I like him a lot. The music and the movie are quite dark and interesting, and I write a bit about death, and playing around with it.

Okay, there aren’t really 9, since Threadless decided it’d be more fun for us to try and guess what movie Bobby would want to do. And since I stink at this kind of stuff and don’t want to be subjected to you all saying, “What the hell, Amber? Why the eff would Bobby ever want to do a song for THAT movie?” I’m not even going to guess. Seems like he likes darky, independent type movies, though.

Okay, so I’m drawing a blank on lots of movies that might be better, but I would love to hear one of his less death-related songs in the indie flick, “Once.” I think his acoustics would fit perfectly into the love story between two budding musicians.
And to go out on a limb, I’m going to guess that if he likes Westerns, how about a little movie not filmed yet called Unbound Captives? All right, collective groan at who’s in the film, but isn’t it really going to be a Western? He could bust out his country skills.! I could picture one of the more up-tempos during a fight or chase scene.
Um…what happened?? Oh yeah, I just blacked out, <3ing Bobby that much more. His faves are my fave movies….we're totes meant for each other. And by meant for each other, I mean only to watch movies together (while snuggling on my couch under the covers).
PS– my guess– Lost in Translation. Don't know why…just love that movie and could see a song of his in there somewhere.
Oh my, we absolutely have the same taste in films!! I mean Bobby, of course, but apparently so do you and I Li Li. Since we can’t snuggle up on the couch and watch these with Bobby, maybe we should snuggle up with eachother instead…in a very non-sexual lesbian kind of way.
