Just in case you missed it: Bobby Long Edition
The past few days have been filled with some pretty great Bobby Long items on what we like to call the world wide web. And since these past few days have also be tres busy, i.e Halloween, the World Series, work, families, whatevs– so, we thought we would bring you a couple of fab Bobby items you may have missed– both of which come from when Mr. Long was in San Diego.
First off is a kick ace article written by the San Diego Entertainer Magazine. This is one of the best articles I have read on Bobby, covering all the basics and then some– like where the name Dirty Pond Songs came from:
Your new album “Dirty Pond Songs” has an interesting name, can you give us a little background on it?
It’s not really even an album, it’s more like a collection of songs. I’m actually in the process of doing my album right now. I had quite a collection of songs, like 20 songs, and I was coming to America and I needed something to give to the industry people and press people. So I decided to record in my bedroom for a couple of hours.
The title came from me and my friend. We both love those old kind of blues documentaries, like on Robert Johnson. Stemming from this, my friend had an idea for a music video. The video would consist of the feeling like casting a fishing rod into a pond and pulling out like a shopping cart or a boot. It kind of stuck and we always laughed about it, so we decided to call it Dirty Pond Songs.
And it also gives what is probs my fave Bobby quote so far:
I just want to write songs and play for others, and everything else is kind of bullshit.
WORD. I mean, is it possible to adore this guy any more?? Yep. Done.
Go read the full article here.
Also from good ol’ SD is this funny video titled, “Story Time with Bobby Long”. It was posted on both Johnny Cab San Diego and SnuggleBubble05’s YouTube account.
Be sure to check out her other vids– she has a bunch from his show at The Loft!
On a sidenote here: Okay San Diego. We get it. Your charming and gorgeous. You have kick ass writers that can write about y’alls kick ass music scene. Not to mention you are home to one of my fave peeps in the world– holla @_VixB– but we are on to you! Stop luring Bobby there and making him think that CA is so awesome. We are trying to do that here in Texas (and maybe Oklahoma). Mm, kay?! Thanks.

Why do I want to bring Bobby & Phil banana splits now? lol
Bobby’s stories are always entertaining. I can’t wait to hear some in Alabama on Wednesday!
