Happy Birthday Sam!! We Love Your Face!!
Today, we have much to celebrate. Twenty-three years ago, the world had no idea what was coming. And now, Sam Bradley has arrived!!
Here is how the ladies at Shack of Soul are celebrating!!
First off, as we announced earlier this week, we are giving away a SIGNED Sam Bradley poster! We announced that there were 3 ways to enter, but we didn’t quite tell you much about what we are doing tomorrow (Saturday) night. We are going to #SamBradley like crazy till he is #1 in the Twitter Trends.
This is not the first time Sam has been “pounded.” We got him up to the #2 spot back in May, but our goal tomorrow is #1. So, to do this, starting at 9 p.m. Eastern, make sure every tweet has #SamBradley in it! Don’t know what to tweet? How about a link to his new website (http://www.sambradley.com/) or his MySpace Page (http://www.myspace.com/sambradley)? Spread the word about Sam and all of his awesomeness!
Now, back to the contest… The 3rd way to enter is to simply add #ShackofSoul to at least one of your #SamBradley tweets. Anyone who has both of those tags in their tweet will be entered again to possibly win the Sam poster!
So what do you think Sam and his buddies will be doing to celebrate?? Well, SoS has an exclusive pic of their “celebrations”! Check it out after the jump… Read the rest of this entry
Who is this Marcus Foster?
Eyes of Amber ran a great article on Marcus Foster today on t5m. While familiar with his music, I, like Amber, know little about the man behind the voice. For example, I knew that Marcus was into art and sculpture, but I did not know that he was pursuing a degree in it.
As if being a musician isn’t enough creative expression, Marcus is studying sculpture at the Royal College of Arts. While working on some new pieces he recently injured his thumb on a band saw. In order to give it a chance to heal, he did have to cancel a London show, but there was no permanent damage. In his line of work and study, that thumb is very important! He plans to complete his degree next spring.
My favorite part of the article concerns Marcus’ early musical inspirations:
Finally, it was Tom Waits who inspired Marcus to write his own songs. You can still hear the resonance of some of those early influences in his music.
I love it because I am a huge Tom Waits fan and I can definitely see pieces of him in Marcus’ songs. Click here to see Marcus doing a Tom Waits cover at a recent show.
Sadly though, Marcus’ time in America has ended and he is now back in London. He announced via Twitter that he plans to return to the States in December and I know that this little fan is hoping that he will return to the Lone Star State for at least one show.

Bobby Long Article Round-up
The past few days there have been quite a few Bobby Long articles popping up around the interwebs– not that I am complaining one bit, hello, I could read about him all day, thx.
The first two are interviews from a few days ago, but I don’t think you’ll mind, right? Both come from River Front Times, St. Louis’ Alternative newspaper. Here are excerpts from each:
This tour is so grueling. What’s the most difficult thing dealing with that?
I think it’s just smiling. [Laughs] I kind of wear my heart on my sleeve. At the moment, anyway. I don’t want to be anywhere else [than on tour]. I want to go in the studio – and I’m gonna do that [eventually] – but I want to be out there playing my songs and going about it the same way my heroes did, which is working as hard as you possibly can and getting your songs out there and learning your craft.
The hardest thing… [is] when people [are] coming up to you, wanting some one-on-one thing. I’m really happy to do that, but someties you’re so tired, you can’t smile. You feel exhausted and you can’t physically show the appreciation the way you want to.

What’s been the biggest challenge for you, as you’ve translated your music from your bedroom and open-mic nights to clubs?
It’s always a challenge to yourself, ’cause you have certain heights you have to hit each time. And you have to do the best for the song. Open mics, you don’t have to deal with a room of people and how to go about involving them, in a way. Especially when it’s just an acoustic performance. That’s been the hardest thing — just making people listen and get what you’re doing.

Coming out today, from Examiner.com’s Amanda Bell, is an article highlighting Bobby’s manager, Phil Taylor, and his diary-like entry of Bobby last few days touring. Included in his summary are details of Bobby’s denial into Canada for his Vancouver show and more insight into this recent tweet from Bobby:

Also you can watch more vids of his recent TV spots.
Check out the full examiner article here– if only to see a full size version of this pic– hello adorb!
