Chase the Blues
Circle in the Square
I Was Broken
I Don’t Mind
In Your Head
Fourteen Times
Kiss is a Knife
Memory of Your Arms
Same Old Dance
Shadows of the City
The Room
Tumble Down
Way Way Way
You My Love
Chase the Blues
The room is filled with darkness and the streets are filled with pale, white light
The silent sky is folding up the evening with the same old sigh
The dream that I’ve been chasing I’ve been waiting for so long to see
All I have are pieces and they just seem to trample on me
Cause I don’t wanna see the moon go down
And I don’t wanna feel the cold ground
And I don’t wanna think about tomorrow
For today
I wanna chase the blues away
For today
I wanna chase the blues
Blues away
Well it’s late in the morning and the feeling got me haunted right now
The shadows in the doorway well they always make the same old sound(same old sound)
If I’m not hearing voices then I know I’m bout to go insane
by the time the sun comes up I know the devil has my name(has my name)
Cause I don’t wanna see the moon go down
And I don’t wanna feel the cold ground
And I don’t wanna think about tomorrow
For today
I wanna chase the blues away
For today
I wanna chase the blues
Cause I… I’ve been waiting for so long
Yes and I…feel a change is gonna come
Yes I feel it in my bones
I said lawd
I said lawd
I feel it in my bones
In my bones
In my bones
In my bones
In my bones
Don’t wanna see
Don’t wanna see
Don’t wanna see
Moon go down
Moon go down
Going down

Circle in the Square
Got a hungry noise inside my head
Knows the flavor of the timeless night
I’ve dreamt the sky but when its gone to bed
Never manage to taste the light
I can never manage to taste the light
I lay feeling on the grassy ground
Spits and shakes and tries to hide
I can barely feel but I won’t stay still
You can hear her laughing on the other side
You can hear her laughing on the other side
A feast that’s fit for a thousand kings
Is laid out for my waiting eyes
Thirst could quench 100 wolves
Make the circle in the square
Make the circle in the square
So I follow the track to the one outside
But crept in my burnt, useless sky
Through narrow words and hidden sound
Trace my footprints on the ground
I trace my footprints on the ground
Beats the feet of a million dreams
Slaughtered savage as it seems
If I throw my bones into the sea
Pace the shoreline waiting for me
Pace the shoreline waiting for me
Whooooooa ohhhhh x3

I Was Broken
I was tied, but now unbound.
My head is off the ground.
For a long time I was so weary.
Tired of the sound I’ve heard before.
The gnawing of the night time at the door.
Haunted by the things I’ve made.
Stuck between the burning light and the dusty shade.
I used to think the past was dead and gone.
But I was wrong, So wrong, Whatever makes you blind must make you strong.
In my time I’ve melted into many forms.
From the day that I was born.
I know that there’s no place to hide.
Stuck between the burning shade and the fading light.
I was broken for a long time, but it’s over now.
Yes and you, you walk these lonely streets.
That people send, people send, There are some wounds that just cant mend.
I do pretend, pretend I am free from all the things that take my friends.
But I will stand here until the end.
I know that I can take the moon.
In between the burning shade and the fading light.
I was broken for a long time, but it’s over now.
I was broken for a long time, but it’s over now.

I Don’t Mind
And if I had the time to solve the mystery of your crime you know I would,
If I had to shape the form of your mechanical design you know I could,
Well I’ve been up and down the lanes to lose the memory
Of your name and sword taken from the stone,
Put in the lake but I have mended up my heart
And I have nothing more than bones to break,
But I said I do believe in all the endless roads you weave,
You may climb,
You may fall,
You could spend your lifetime on the wall,
I don’t mind,
If I had the hand to take the blood out of the sand to make it dry,
And if I knew the birth and all the secrets of the earth I won’t ask why,
Well I’ve been in and out of windows just,
To try to find a doorway,
I’ve broken off the mud that is weight upon my shoes but I’ve,
Mended up my heart and I have nothing more than time to lose,
But I said I do believe in all the endless roads you weave,
You may climb,
You may fall,
You could spend your lifetime on the wall,
I don’t mind,
If I could look within the endless tears upon your skin would I go blind,
If I could carve your face upon an unfamiliar place would I be kind,
I’ve seen visions of a ghost that stands upon a ragged sleeve,
Of all my faded dreams that I have broken at the seams but I,
Mended up my heart and I have nothing more than sorrow on the breeze,
But I said I do believe in all the endless roads you weave,
You may climb,
You may fall,
You could spend your lifetime on the wall,I don’t mind (8x’s)
In Your Head
If you try to measure time
It’s gone before the twinkle of an eye
Burns out like a candle
Blacks out like the sky
Can you remember all the skins that you’ve shed
All the dreams stained on your bed
Words that your feel
Feelings that you’ve said
Think of all the things we break
The gifts that you might take
You embrace the silence of the night until you try
To fill it up with silence
In your head
In your head
In your head
In your head
In your head
In your head
Do you invent your history
And brave enough to steal the memory
Can you get a failure to think you are free
Can you remember all the times you tried to teach
The arms you’ve tried to reach
I still don’t know the difference between what we accept or believe
Think of all the times you’ve lied
Places that you’ve tried
Do you think that in your heart that it’s all true
Just not fair… oh
In your mind
In your mind
In your mind
In your mind
In your mind
In your mind
Fallen like a soldier
Risen as the same
Do you think that you are graceful
You really jumped the gun
You think that you’re the one
Are your hopeful you can leave a trace of yourself
When you’re dead
When you’re dead
When you’re dead
When you’re dead
When you’re dead
In your head
I say..
I say..
In your head

Fourteen Times
Fourteen times I call your name
Fourteen times I get the same
A silent chill an empty room
And four dogs barking at the moon.
I go out to the ancient street
And spill my way through scattered light
The world is shaken at my feet
It takes me down into the night
I’ve seen a thousand suns set into the ground
Like a thousand born into a single sound
There are fourteen ways of tearing up the past
And there are fourteen ways of trying to make it last
Fourteen blades of melting grass
Fourteen shades tied to the mast
Fourteen tears strapped to the eye
Fourteen fears must wave goodbye
Fourteen bells must tole the day
When fourteen dreams don’t fade away
There are fourteen nettles in the kiss
Fourteen feeling feel like this
Seen a thousand suns set into the ground
Like a thousand born into a single sound
There are fourteen ways of tearing up the past
There are fourteen ways of trying to make it last.
Before the dream between the fall
I wade into the twisted sand
While lovers stand against the wall
With frozen eyes and slight of hand.
Kiss is a Knife
Take the sting off a wasp
or you can fall off a tree
Down a shot of poison
Baby drown in the sea
Saw off your leg,
you can tape it to your head
Poke out your eyes
and sleep in blankets of lead.
Fall out of your window
with your buckets of cream
Do another line in a limousine
Eat a can of worms
I’ll make sure they are gone
Jump through broken glass
with your shoes and socks on.
When I’m lying in your bed your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
When I’m lying in your bed your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
Take the fist off the blow
in a ballroom fight.
Suck the life out of the dream,
dark all night.
When you see the sky is painted red,
don’t worry
’cause the man is only under your bed.
When I’m lying in your bed your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
When I’m lying in your bed your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
your kiss is a knife
Kiss is a knife
Take the fist off the blow
in a ballroom fight.
Saw off your leg
in the painted night.
When you see the sky is painted blue,
don’t worry
’cause the man is only under your shoe.

Memory of Your Arms
I see nothing but the memory of your arms upon this train
The morning lays a frosted sheet of gold along the plane
Tied the ships and snow
The mind is making crazy patterns
Like the birds along the lake
There isn’t much more longing at the day
There isn’t much more longing at the day
The sun is melting amber on the houses painted green and red
The tide falls pretending she is laying there in bed
Between the words that you spoke
My eyes are gazing on the water
Trying hard to stay away
There isn’t much more longing at the day
There isn’t much more longing at the day
The sky is showing endless roads I have no time to roam
Restless heart is searching for the pathway to your home
Between the towers and the tracks hold the memory of your arms
Only I was just about to break
There isn’t much more longing at the day
There isn’t much more longing at the day
There isn’t much more longing, there isn’t much more longing
There isn’t much more longing at the day
Same Old Dance
Street girl sits in the coffee shop
Just waiting for the kids to stop
Their laughing at her hair and broken teeth
Her skirt is short and torn
Since the day that she was born into the family that is made of disbelief
She’s standing on the corner
Just pretending not to fear the drunk
Suitor may or may not take her home
It’s the same old dance
The same old fire
That makes it safe through the night
Just to feel that you are not alone
Not alone
She’d been up and down the shiny stairs
Shadows only seem to care
Corridors are made for tears
Seen them fall down through the years
We’re up the garden to the door
I see the face that I once wore
Tell me time is made of all
The things you leave behind
Leave behind
Leave behind
Leave behind
Leave behind
Street girl swears to the neon sign
That tells her how to pass the time
Of the fall and all the beauty that’s on trial
She’s waiting for the man to put some fire in her hand
You can see the fallen sadness in her smile
She’s trying to find a road to choose
Wipes the blood right from her shoe
She thinks about the time she left her home
Same old dance
Same old fire
That makes it safe through the night
Just to feel that you are not alone
Not alone
She’d been up and down the shiny stairs
Shadows only seem to care
Corridors are made for tears
Seen them fall down through the years
We’re up the garden to the door
I see the face that I once wore
Tell me time is made of all
The things you leave behind
Leave behind
Leave behind
Leave behind
Leave behind

Shadows of the City
Well the streets are bleeding out for a real dream that’s not filled with unmarked bills.
When the moon turns it’s back to let off steam your faced with a cold chill.
There’s a bird at the window with smoke in his lungs singing off key. There’s a wounded girl with a heart shaped shoe in the shadow, in the shadow, In the shadows of the city, in the shadows of the city.
Well the trains are half empty with the faces that try to break off their chains.
Bound by the sound of a screaming dog that has all the names, all the names.
There’s a mad man throwing stones at the streetlights cutting through the torn out shade.
There’s a small yellow ribbon by the fallen tree in the shadows, in the shadows.
In the shadows of the city, in the shadows of the city.
You can feel the air breathing down
your neck like a ghost step by your side.
A flash of white teeth by the side of the road is looking for a place to hide.
Raincoat woman with a knife in her hand and a shovel on the grassy ground.
If you catch her left eye you can hear the sound of the shadows in the shadows.
In the shadows of the city, in the shadows of the city.
In the shadows of the city, in the shadows of the city.

The Room
Pace yourself and
Take it slow
Nothing here can change us now
The rain may fall and shadows grow but
Time has stole the world somehow
The moon is on the rise
I’m frozen in your eyes
The room is wrapped in dust and silence
Keeping out the night
Keeping out the night
Keeping out the night
The gate may rust and the tide may turn
Friends may go their separate ways
Fathers trust their child to learn
How to spend their dying day
Dying day
Dying day
Dying day
Taken by your hand
Like stones set in the sand
The room is charged with ghosts of voices meeting our demands
Meeting our demands
Meeting our demands
Ohhhhhhh yeaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I said… I….
The sky may crack
World may tumble
Streets may see your endless gaze
Time keeps traveling
Cities crumble
I was born to call your name
Call your name
I said call your name
Call your name
I said call your name
Gnawing of the dark
Gnawing of the dark
Echoes of the dream
Echoes of the dream
The room is folding in your arms a sight I’ve never seen
Sight I’ve never seen
Never never seen

Tumble Down
In this life there’s only one man who is born, who is torn into the night
He has lived and he has died and he’s the only one who’s tied to the night
He will walk
Through pointless danger
He will go
Through twisted sorrow
He will know
That if he really saw the wall it would all just tumble down
Have you ever seen the haunted ancient morning sweep the stars out from the sky
Have you ever seen the dust wiped from your heart so clear that you can see it shine, see it shine
As you walk
Through your pointless danger
You will go through
Twisted sorrow
But you will know
That if you really saw the wall it would all just tumble down
Cause it could hold no more truth..oh
It could hold no more dreams
It could hold no more people… people
They would know what it means
It could hold no more sky
It could hold no more sea
No more.. no more sea
It could hold no more time
Cause it would all, it would all
Just tumble
Downnnnnnnnnnnnnn
It would fall
It would fall…ooooohhhh yeaaaaahh yeahhhhhhh
Ayyyeee down down down down down
Tumble down..(adlibs to end)

Way Way Way
Nights as cold as daggers
Is tearing up the ground
Devil’s punched a hole
So you can only hear the sound
Walls are closing in
staring at the prey
We’re all just made of sin
the light’s too far away
Far away
Far away
Far away
Far away
way way
Far away
Far away
Far away
way way
Get’s you by the hand
And ties you up in chains
Takes your dream from your bed
And the need for love remains
The gates are way too high
Found out yesterday
Rains washed the rivers dry
Guess you’ll have to stay
Far away
Far away
Far away
Far away
way way
Far away
Far away
Far away
way way
way way way way way way way way way
way way way way way way way way way
Well the trunks are made of glass
And the trees are made of bone
Someone’s in the tower on the broken telephone
If you make it past those dogs
The kind that has no name
I tell you on the outside
it all looks the same
There’s nothing left to do
Nothing left to say
Staring at the middle in the middle of it… far away
Far away
Far away
Far away
Far away
way way
Far away
Far away
Far away
way way
way way way way way way way way way
way way way way way way way way way

You My Love
The sun falls down like the memory of her soul
Turning everything from gold into grey
There’s a light that still finds your face
Giving all the dust and shadows a name
The night turns just as cold
As the surface of a mirror
Showing nothing more than sorrow and the fate
There’s a sight setting slowly in my mind
With a sound that is waking up the shade
With a sound that is waking up the shade
It’s You, My Love
So kind are your eyes
I see them in the darkest skies
If it’s true my love
I’ve got to steal away
I’ll love you till my dying day
The feeling hits your heart like an arrow in the snow
Waking all the blood that’s sweeping in your veins
It’s alright to think that you don’t really know
Just how the world is gonna deal with your remains
Just how the world is gonna deal with your remains
There’s a spirit in your mind
I can see it in your eye
Like a gift to bring to ease the troubled tune
Where we cast another stone beneath the sand stained moon
And we’ll wake to find ourselves alone in our room
And we’ll wake to find ourselves alone
It’s You, My Love
So kind are your eyes
I see them in the darkest skies
If it’s true my love
I’ve got to steal away
I’ll love you till my dying day
It’s You, My Love
So kind are your eyes
I see them in the darkest skies
If it’s true my love
I’ve got to steal away
I’ll love you till my dying day

I’ve been trying to find the lyrics to Marcus’ song Shadows Are Gone. Any idea where I might find them?
Thanks
Am so glad somebody is posting Marcus Foster’s lyrics online. There’s a glaring error with “Same Old Dance” lyrics however. The line as it is written on this site reads, “Tell me time has made a fall/Things I leave behind” whereas the lyric should read, “Tell me time is made of all/The things you leave behind.”
Hi Robert!
Thanks for the heads up! We get most of the lyrics from other fans like us and sometimes it’s hard to decipher what he’s actually saying.
We’ll have it changed here in a bit.
Thanks again! And thanks for checking us out!
