I know what you are thinking…

“What? A shirt? What’s this business?”

Our original idea for Day 2 was to joke about our favorite outfit we’ve seen Sam in. (Yes, we are very aware these posts sound like high school yearbooks. That’s why we love them.) So while in the trust tree, we discovered something. Something that we BOTH agree on. Wholeheartedly. Without reservation. And in fact, we both thought of it separately, and then we both kind of said it at the same time and were like YES…

Our favorite outfit is the exact same…THE shirt.

OG Sam fans (like early 2009) know of the shirt. The shirt is magical. It has powers which we do not comprehend, nor do we try. The shirt… well.. you just need to see it. In action.

(On a separate note, we also determined that it is really hot when musicians talk or gesture to the sound guys. Yep. LiLi edit: it’s up there with a guy smoking while playing pool. Don’t ask me why…it just is.)

LiLi and I experienced the full on power of the shirt in person the Summer of 2009, in Dallas, at the Marcus & Bobby show. Sam, like us, was just there to watch, so he was sans blazer. AND wearing the shirt.

I didn’t get any pictures with the shirt since I wasn’t quite besties with Sam yet. But I did get to hug it. And it was soft. And smelled like sunshine.

And I had this realization… I think we like Casual Sam the best. Kinda like the way Ken has multiple outfits for multiple moods & events– Sam has his dressed up concert look and then his casual v-neck-tee-with-slip-on-vans-rugged-jeans-type thing going on.

Which, don’t get us wrong here people. We love Fancy Sam. A LOT. But in the end, we are beer drinking, sports watching, chicks who dig a man in a tee shirt and jeans tearing it up on stage. Especially if that tee is striped. With a hoodie. And smells like rainbows.

Today, our topic of choice….

Facepalm Moments

I think what makes all these moments all the more awkward, embarrassing and downright hilarious is the fact that Sam forgets nothing. NOTHING. It threw me for a loop when I finally realized that. I mean, hell, he recognized me from Facebook and Twitter before we ever met. Scary, right?

Because of this, every time we see Sam from here to eternity, we’ll always wonder which of our facepalm moments will be floating through his mind at that particular moment. If we are lucky, it will NEVER be these ones…

Amber’s #1 Facepalm Moment

Choosing my favorite face palm moment at a Sam concert is like asking me to choose my favorite cake. It’s damn near impossible. There are so many. I don’t know what comes over me while I am there because before EVERY show I decide I’m just going to have one beer and I will only go through the meet and greet line one time, you know, like a normal person. But clearly, I do not maintain my normality once I walk through the door. I blame the eff me eyes. They throw me off my guard.

But I think my favorite (which is weird to say, cause really, how do I have a favorite embarrassing moment) was this past show in Dallas. I mainly blame the school for which LiLi is employed for this moment, cause surely if she was there, she would have saved me, right? RIGHT?

It started as they all do, I’m gonna have just one beer. And when I find out the beer is $9, I think “oh yes, this one drink thing will be easy.” However, that $9 packed a punch and before I knew it, I was up for #2 and feeling pretty good about it.

So, when the meet and greet line started, I jumped right in, cause I knew I could go through again once LiLi arrived. That’s when you now I am buzzed. I start planning out how many times I’ll go through the line.

I made a statement all right.

Earlier in the day, long before the concert, (yes, a flashback) I was getting dressed alone and the shirt I was wearing was one with a button that you can never decide on. You feel a little trampy leaving it open, too conservative buttoning it up. So I made the decision for the open button cause hey, you only live once. And don’t act like you don’t have a shirt like that. All women do. It’s the go to shirt when you need to make a statement… with your boobs.

These babies need to be contained!

Of course, when I get to the front of the line, I want my picture with Sam cause obviously the 2,386 couple other ones I have are not enough. These are memories in time people! (10 fan pts for correctly naming the movie that quote comes from.) And, then the beer kicked in and I dropped my camera. No worries though. My mad reflexes saved the day and I managed to do this arm crushing the camera into my chest thing to save it. And at the same time, managed to push the button and take a picture. Of my boobs.

Now, normally that wouldn’t be a big deal. I have so many pictures of my boobs, what’s one more? (Kidding. Sort of.) But oh no. It did not end there. While trying to recover from my minor mishap, Sam leans over and whispers, “I think you just took a picture of your cleavage.” Yep, he saw it. All of it. I think I sobered up immediately at that moment. I’m pretty sure if it wasn’t dark, my face would have been an amazingly awkward shade of red.

LiLi’s #1 Facepalm Moment

Unlike Amber, it didn’t take me long to recall my most embarrassing moment. There is only one that I clearly remember. One that still makes me cringe to this day.  I try not to think about it, but something will occur that let’s the horrid memory  penetrate the steel cage I keep my awkward moments locked safely away in. Although, let’s be honest here….that cage is quickly filling up ever since we started this here little blog, so it’s not quite as easy to push it all away. And, the beers I have been drinking lately, for my May Training, certainly aren’t helping. But I digress….

It all went down during our little jaunt to LA last June to see Sam play at the Hotel Cafe. There was a group of us there and at one point someone, who shall remain nameless (although it’s easy to find out-duh) showed us a pic of one Otto Bauer, claiming it was Sam Bradley’s doppelganger. I looked. I laughed. Hard.

And then I couldn’t help myself. I blame the pre-game Pacificos that we drank before the show. And Jason Segal. But it was just right there. My laptop. And a pic of a p0rn star who looked extremely similar to a certain singer/songwriter we were where there to see. So I emailed it to our group. And I think there was even a dare thrown out to see if anyone would print it out and show Sam that night at the show. A joke, right? No one had a printer in their suitcase. And no one would actually take the time to walk down to the hotel’s business center to print out a pic of a p0rn star advertising his new ::ahem:: marital toy, right??

WRONG. I WAS SO WRONG.

I now blame technology. That evil bastard. It hadn’t even occured to me that beer+iPhones would result in this– ps check out my completely EMBARRASSED FACE at the end, when the camera is pointed to me asking how I felt about it all:

Oh the horror of it all unfolding right before my very eyes. In that moment on the vid, I am chanting in my head, “please don’t tell him how you got the pic, please don’t tell him how you got the pic.”

I don’t remember much after that. Some pics were taken. A convo between Amber and Sam of why he looked so serious in his posters nowadays. But it was all a blur. I was just waiting for the pic to pop out again.

So, what better way to exorcise facepalm demons than to publish them on the world wide web for all to see, no? There it is internets– my most embarrassing Sam Moment. I hope you enjoyed!

Anyhoo– member a while back when we got all mad sadpanda that Sam’s show in Dallas got sold out and blamed that one chick, Brooke Fraser?  And then after some further investigations we decided not to blame Brooke any longer cause it turned out she was amazeballs?

Well, guess what? She is still amazeballs. And to prove it, check out her latest single, Betty, off her 3rd album Flags. LOVES!!

If you are wondering whether she is that adorb in real life, well, yes. Yes, she is. And pretty damn hilar too. I wasn’t expecting that from her, when Amber and I saw her live, but there she was cracking jokes in her equally adorb Aussie accent. I pretty much crushed hard on her that night.

PS– isn’t her dress in the vid to die for? I mean, srsly. If I were 10 years younger and er, uh, less tattooed, I would totes find that dress and any reason to wear it. But I digress…

PPS– want another reason why Brooke is amazeballs? She gives back in a big way. Just recently Brooke, along with the help of friends, family and fans, raised $50,000 for Charity Water. This means a minimum of 2500 people in developing nations will get sustainable and long term clean water in 2011! So after much researching through our old blog posts and the forum (duh, join it. now.), I present you with…hold on to your short pants and ball cap… our top 5 awesomely awesome moments from the past year.

1. Stalking Seeing Sam. Twice. In One Year.

For us, it’s really a rarity that we get to see concerts in general. And to see Sam, well that can be even more difficult. But through major luck and amazingly generous people, we got to see Sam in concert TWICE this year!

LiLi and I just so happened to be going to L.A. already for our Esplice Accountability Group our book club meeting, so when we heard Sam would be there as well, it was like fate. And srsly, Sam should thank us cause we brought ourselves and 30 of our closest friends to revel in the eye-effing. Add in my pre-gaming with Jason Segal, drunken shenanigans and the fact that I thought Two Shoes and John Notto were the same person, and you have one epicly amazing time!

Then disaster struck. Sam was coming to Dallas. LiLi and I waited just a little too long to buy tickets and then BAM! We got sold out. The gchat after that was probs the saddest one on record. But we didn’t give up. We thought that if we wanted it bad enough, we could make it happen. And it did, thanks to Mary at Sideways Media! But it was still hell. LiLi missed the entire show, I drunk tweeted cause she wasn’t there to save me, went through the meet and greet line too many times and then found out Sam listens to our audio boos (we need to do another one and SOON!). But still, it was a good night!

2. Camp Foster Tweet Fest!

We love Marcus. I mean bunches. I can’t even explain the love. But when Jack Standen started tweeting these pictures and vids and such where we got to see Marcus while recording and all the crazy shenanigans, well, we about blew up. How can our love increase anymore then it already has? Well, it did. And Camp Foster was born…

I mean, how can you not fall in love with a boy spooning with a dog?

I mean, LiLi and I literally felt like we were in the studio. So we made a creepy manip to memoralize the feeling, cause that’s what we do.

3. Birth of the SoS Forum

I say birth because I think putting this thing together was pretty freakin’ close to the same amount of sweat and tears that birthing a child is. Minus the drugs, of course.

See, we’ve had this on our list of “to dos” for awhile. But we couldn’t seem to make it work cause either 1) it wasn’t what we wanted, or 2) it cost money, and we are both broke as a joke.

But then, with a little bit of luck and some Marcus magic, LiLi found a site that gave us all the capabilities we wanted and was…. FREE!! And now, we have this…

I think we both cried with joy, then we forgot for like a week that we had it, remembered, then cried again! See, LiLi and I do most of our fangirling in gchats, but we wanted to share some of that with you all without having to always write big ol’ blog posts (what do ya think we are? bloggers? HA!). And now we can, in the forum. And if you haven’t joined yet, well, you need to. And we can tell if you don’t so DO IT! NOW! GO!

4. The Discovery of Otto Bauer aka Sam’s Doppelganger

Does life get anymore amazing once you discover your doppelganger? Yes, it does. When you discover someone else’s doppleganger and realize said doppelganger is a porn star. And this happened when we discovered Sam’s doppelganger. It. Was. Amazing!

So, we can’t take too much cred. It was SassySmart that found this awesomeness. (We won’t ask how.) BUT, we were the only ones first to report it, so we win! And, you remember that time we went to LA and saw Sam at the meet & greet in the alley behind a dumpster… yeah, one of the lovely ladies in our group showed him. And one of our other very smart and beautiful ladies was in her right mind to film it. What happened next? You’ll see…

5. Everything from Songs from a Room Cause it Got Us Through

Who knew that musicians playing music in people’s living rooms would be the source of so much happiness for me? Well, when Marcus became one of the main entertainers for this, I was sold. Seriously, I want to run away to London, buy a house with a big ass living room and spend the rest of my days hosting these. These videos from Songs from a Room literally got me through a year that had no Marcus in the US, which was a tough year considering we both got to see him perform 3 different times in 2009.

If you all aren’t following these guys on Twitter, you could be missing out. They just randomly post Marcus stuff, so get on it! But srsly, they have made my year so much better!

Honorable Mention: The Hangover Picture Heard Round the World

TECHNICALLY this didn’t “happen” to us, but it is still awesome and needed to be included somehow, some way in our wrap up for the year. It’s like Sam was taking this picture just for us…

It was my understanding that Marcus was the hungover one, but I kind of disagreed completely with that statement. You can’t fool me Sam! Shenanigans I say!

Plus this picture has officially become our template for all creepy manips, so how could we NOT include it.

Wow. It’s been one hell of a ride this year! I’m hoping for a year of more epicness and perfection next year.

LiLi here– just had to add a couple of things so bear with me, yeah? Another year has gone by and while I am sad to see 2010 end, I am way excited for all that 2011 will be bringing to us. A new Marcus album (and hopefully a US tour ::fingers crossed::), new features for this here blog, and mostly getting to know you all more. That is probs the best part of having this here little slice of the interwebs world– when we go out and get to meet you all and fangirl together in real life. So thanks to you all. And to my internet luvah wife, Amber. I heart you like WHOA. Oh, and my personal fave moment was….seeing Sam in a hat. DUH.

So, this past week, I have felt off. Not just because I was sick, but because I was ::gasp:: offline for most of the week. Can you believe it? Yeah, me neither. I was THAT sick that even the computer was making it worse.

Anyhoo, last night as I was getting ready for night night times, I realized that the “off-ness” I was feeling was that I hadn’t checked or really been on twitter in what seemed like years, save the half hour that I listened to the Fearless interview with Mr. Bradley.  I started sweating at the realization. What had I missed? What important tweet did I miss RTing? GAH!

With shaking hands I grabbed my cellie and quickly scrolled through both my accounts saving the SoS one for last. And. Then. I. Saw. It. My worst fears came true. I MISSED a GENIUS TWEET.

You’re probs thinking uh, what’s so special about that? Erm. That’s where I have a confession to make. HATS. Hats are my kryptonite. A guy in a hat is like a girl in a school girl uniform for guys. Like WHOA.

And it’s NOT the first time people. Did you all see this (where he apparently got that hat in the pic)? GAH. I mean, sometimes, even THIS is goo, although, I could do without the beibs hair. and that huge watch. But whatevs.

Naturally, I got on gchat with Amber and I might have virtually squeed all over her (heh) about the hats. Which of course led us to thinking about hats that we could give Sam during the next meet and greet. I mean, don’t be surprised if we show up with one of these to give to him the next time he rolls through Dallas, although, this post might just make him skip Dallas on the next tour. So maybe I will just send him this for Christmas, yeah?

Anyhoo….

So, you all know that Sam played in Dallas last Friday, thanks to Amber’s revisit yesterday.

It was AMAZING. He sang Lights. And Scared. And a song about Sugar Mamas. And then the heavens opened and angels poured in and filled the HoB with rainbows and sunshine.

Did that really happen? Well, no, I mean, DUH. But if it did, I wouldn’t know cause I wasn’t effing there! Yup. I missed the WHOLE set. After all my planning and determination and speeding and changing while driving (HOLLA old man at stop light in Kaufman who gave me a courtesy honk while I took off my jeans) I didn’t get to see nor hear ONE song.

BUT, I did make it in time for the meet and greet after Sam’s set– which pretty much made up for the fact that I missed the WHOLE effing show. Yeah, in case you missed that– I MISSED THE WHOLE SET. At least I am not bitter, right? Heh.

Approaching the HoB, I recieved a text from Amber letting me know to come right in the door and she would be waiting along with Sam. This made me laugh out loud since I had been reading her tweets (at stoplights– not while driving) and I could see the drunk progression as the night went on. Yet, she wasn’t kidding. I opened the door and boom, there he was.  Right there. It kinda made me jump cause I really thought Amber was kidding. He was in the midst of talking with some fans so naturally I did what needed to be done. I went to the bar.

Finally, with a beer in hand, aka my liquid courage since I am not good at talking to people, I made my way to the line only to be assaulted by Amber and her 10sec recap of the entire set. It was impressive. She sounded like that micromachines guy that used to do those commercials. And then she ::ahem:: directed me to get in line so she could get in line again. To which I laughed cause this girl loves her some meet and greet lines.

It didn’t take long for us to reach the holy land Sam and much to my surprise he not only remembered me but also noticed that I had cut my hair. Pretty amazing if you ask me since there are peeps that I have known for years that have yet to notice.  It wasn’t until later that I realized I had missed my chance! I should’ve used his complement to my new coif as my segue into finally completing my creepsterness touching Sam’s hair. UGH. Foiled again.

After that, much is a blur as I was trying to buy a CD from TwoShoes (HOLLA– who I was supa excited to see in person again) while attempting to sound coherent to Sam with people stopping by every few seconds to wish him well and say goodbye. As always, he was generous to everyone that stopped to speak to him, giving them his undivided attention. This is one of the reasons I like him so much, outside of his music. He is genuine with every fan that he encounters, making sure that everyone has a good time at his shows.

After a break in the people saying goodbye, I got my chance to tell Sam how much I enjoyed the album, to which he replied, “I heard.”

Um. Say what?

I asked him to clarify and that is when I found out that he has, in fact, heard both mine and Amber’s audioboos.

::facepalm::

He only laughed and said, “Well, I do follow you guys on twitter.”

er…..yeah…..about that…..

Amber and I both try not to think about the fact that Sam does follow us, otherwise, I don’t think we’d have the balls to post half the shizz we do.  Let’s just say it’s a good damn thing he can’t see our gchats. Whoa.

Ignoring the increasing embarrassment at knowing now that Sam has heard me sound like Sylvester the Cat on the ol’ Boo, I asked for my CD signed, we got a few pics and then I returned to my lover, I mean the bar to get a refill.

That is when Sam excused himself to uh, ::whispers:: use the john and then he never returned.  I’m pretty sure that he got caught up in whatever it is musicians get caught up in after their shows– I shall not venture a guess– either that or he’d been eating way too much Mexican food while in Tejas and he really did get ::ahem:: caught up in the bathroom.

Either way, the night was awesome, even though I didn’t get to hear him play, I got to hang with Amber, meet some new peeps, get my copy of Zuni signed and managed to squeeze in a little side hug from Mr. Bradley.  Not too shabby.  The only thing that would have made it better would’ve been the hair.  ::sigh::  One of these days…..

Actually, I did remember pretty much everything from the Dallas show. I kind of had an amazing time. And the night pretty much ended up being epic, as always.

Let us start from the beginning…

ohaithere Mr. Bradley!

I arrive, and some how I am at the front of the line to get into the show. I don’t know how this happened. In case you all don’t realize, I’m normally not there till the doors open cause seats by the bar are normally easy to find for some reason. Thank goodness our ticket winner Shannon came early and managed to mosey her way to the front of the line. I was lonely. And the girls behind me kept talking about how awesome their recent trip to church camp was, which was making me feel awkward since my boobs were hanging out. No really. They were. We’ll talk more about my cleavage later… I promise!

We got inside, got my $9 beer and I was starting to feel a little bit better. I was right in line of where I knew the eff me eyes would be and was explaining the awesomeness that is a Sam Bradley concert to Shannon, who was a Sam virgin before that night. Woo hoo! Always happy to assist someone with popping their cherry!

Poor LiLi did not make the Sam performance at the show. I was so sad for her. I even saved her an amazing spot (in line with the eff me eyes. duh.), but it was not meant to be. And, while I was hoping Sam might start a little late, he started 10 minutes early. LiLi didn’t stand a chance. Which is why you are getting the “Amber only” side of things right now.

The show starts and I tell you what, the boy can perform! This is why I’ve fallen in love with Sam. I was just in like with him until the first live performance. And now, even at concert number 4 for me, the boy still has it! In fact, dare I say he has gotten better since the first time I saw him? Yes, I dare say it!

Man. I love this picture. :sigh:

My fave songs from Friday? Duh. Lights. Mainly cause I love the f-bomb a lot, especially with church camp girls standing next to me. That was win. Scared was equally amazing. And he busted out this song called Sugar Mama, which just made me giggle thinking about this post I wrote about Sam’s quest for a sugar mama. I’m guessing he’s still looking ladies! I’d volunteer, but I’m pretty sure you have to be rich to be a sugar mama, right? Damn it. He also sung a song written by his mom during the show. During an awkward silence before he started, I yelled out “moms rock!” Yes. That was me. Love me through it.

Overall, the show was major win, with the biggest flaw always being that it is too short. But I guess that is a sacrifice you have to make when opening for other musicians, which I will say, is a smart marketing move on Sam’s part. I’ve seen lots of positive tweets from Brooke Fraser fans on Sam over the past few days, and it’s all about growing the fan base, right?

Do I dare talk to you all about the “meet & greet”? Of course I will. Duh. That was the best part of the show.

So I only went through the line twice. Let’s all be amazed by this, cause you know how I am when I have a couple of beers in me. And apparently Sam does too, cause whilst talking to Two Shoes, Sam waved at me, then asked me if I was drunk. I shook my head no, and then he gave me “the look”, then I shook my head yes. Color me embarrassed.

I talked to Two Shoes for a bit while we waited, and while I apparently thought it was the first time we really met, he informed me otherwise. Via Twitter. Awesome. :facepalm:

Alright, enter Sam. First things first, I had him sign the bazjillion things I bought at the merch stand, got my hug, and then took my picture. Which I love, thanks to Picnik’s 1960′s effect!

Then whilst trying to turn off my camera, I managed to snap a shot of my chest. Sam leaned over and whispered, “I think you just took a picture of your cleavage.” And I pretty much died right there. Cause I did, well sort of. This was what happened…

My failed cleavage attempt. No worries. I got a better one later.

Gah. Embarrassing.

I walked away at that point and proceeded to wait on LiLi, who finally got there and then we got to the end of the line again (which luckily was the end, cause we needed some extra Sam time).

In my real life, I work for the public education system as an athletic trainer and part of my job requires that I travel with any teams that make play-offs. Usually this isn’t an issue because for the most part I have always worked for schools that are, uh, let’s just say, more “academically inclined”.  Moving back to the Metroplex found me taking a job with a school that has A LOT of success at sports.

I never worried about it because I thought, what would I rather do then watch my team advance in play-offs??

Uh– watch Sam Bradley and Brooke Fraser at the HoB in Dallas, that’s what.

If you don’t follow us on twitter (shame on you if you don’t) then you have been spared my virtual wailing and gnashing of teeth as I tweeted the progress of my volleyball team on their quest for the Texas State Volleyball play-offs. As you may have guessed, they have continued to win, sending them, and by them I mean me, to the Regional Tournament…..wait for it…..THIS Friday.  Yup. The night of Sam and Brooke’s show.   I mean, don’t get me wrong I am proud of my team and truly hope they make it to State…..

but I am selfish too.

I mean, I will be missing moments like this:

Butts grabs and shots? Um. No. I will not be denied. Therefore at 11am, yesterday morning, Amber and I activated Operation Determined LiLi.

I shall not be left out of potential drunkenness from Amber, or meeting Skuck669, the lovely winner of the pair of tickets, or my chance to finally touch Sam’s hair word vom and be socially awk. No. I shall rage against the dying of the light.

Dramatic, I know. But it’s late. And I am in my jammies. So love me through it, yeah?

So here’s what I’m gonna do people….stay with me. We play at 5pm and will be done by 7pm at the latest. I will only be two hours away, so I am taking my own car and driving back to Dallas after our game instead of riding home on the bus. I mean, getting to go to the show AND not having to ride a school bus with 22 teenage girls….uh….WIN-WIN my friends.

And I will get to see Amber in PERSON not just virtually through our daily gchats. And not let this kickass ticket go to waste! double bonus WIN.

So, in exchange for my uber creepy fangirl ways dedication to this blog, I only ask one small favor of Sam. Please to be wearing a deep v-neck tee like this one:
