Sam Plays in London, and I am JEALOUS!
I am jealous. I mean, crazy jealous. So jealous that I actually decided to write a blog post in order to share with you all my jealous feelings in an acceptable outlet. Plus, I really miss blogging here and I need to get better about it.
Why am I jealous, you may be asking? Obviously it is because of Sam. And partly Marcus. But mainly Sam.
You see, Sam finally performed in London last night. (We made a deal with the London girls a long time ago that we would send Sam if they would send Marcus. We did our part. Still waiting on them to fulfill theirs. Greedy girls.)
And let me go ahead and state the obvious for you all… Sam killed it. I know, you already knew that.
One of our fave people ever, katieh101, was at the show and in true Katie fashion, she videoed the entire show, making it easy for all of us poor saps here in the states to enjoy Sam from far away. All of the vids are here, but I’ve gotta share with you my faves! (UPDATE! We had 4 more videos sent to us from Lynnee08! You can watch them here.)
I don’t know what I love more, the song or the AMAZING word vom (Or perhaps Sam’s Spew? Heh, see what I did there?), before the song. Really people. This is gold. GOLD.
I like Sam’s originals. But he can roll out a few good covers as well. This one here, yep, it’s one of my faves. You know how I love me a good, sappy love song.
OF COURSE, this happened and it was amazing. All it did was make me realize how I didn’t truly appreciate the one time I saw these two on stage before. I didn’t realize what I had then. Treasure this moment those of you who were there, cause these 2 on stage together is such a super rare, super awesome experience!
AND, I need to make a comment on something else. I can’t let this opportunity pass me by.
You may remember LiLi and I not giving the blazer the true appreciation it deserves. We are casual girls. T-shirts, jeans and hats (especially hats) are all we need to make us happy. Yesterday, as promised by Sam via Twitter, he rolled out the blazer again.
And I have to say… Sam, you are doing it right. You made this t-shirt and jeans girl love the blazer again. Maybe it was just the absence that made my heart grow fonder.
Welcome to the Marcus Club Fan Boy!
Dear Gary,
Thanks to our very good friend PangeforPrez and the awesomeness of our stalker-esque Google Alerts on Marcus Foster, we saw that you recently joined the club. You know? The Marcus Foster Fan Club! Welcome. You’re very own laminated card and t-shirt are in the mail! (Don’t ask how we have your address. We have our ways. Mwahahahaha!)
So now that you are a fan of Marcus Foster, we feel like we have to give you fair warning. It starts off really simple, at a show (which is also how LiLi and I fell in love with Marcus) and you write things like this, “…Marcus Foster, who has a fantastic, haunting voice and writes some excellent stuff.” You get home and Google search (which I see you’ve already done) and find Marcus’ album, a little teaser of an EP.
You listen. You love. It’s not enough.
Forget Google. Now you are on YouTube and searching out every video featuring Marcus, even the one where he talks about ghosts (scroll down and WATCH IT if you haven’t seen it). And you can’t get enough Gary. No worries. We know. We totally get it.
Next thing you know, you are starting a blog just about Marcus, and maybe his friend… no. Wait. That’s us.
Can I be honest Gary? We really just wanted to post these amazeballs pictures of Marcus cause 1) They are amazeballs; and 2) We don’t get much new Marcus stuff and we LOVE you for this!
Thank you Gary! Now get out there and take some more for us! Our want for Marcus is never ending.
<3,
Amber
PS– LiLi here and I just have to make note of two things:
1) Gary there also has some rad pics of Willy Mason, who Marcus has been opening for.
2) Um. Willy’s voice is like velvet. Please to be checking him out and swooning with me.
That is all.
Communion Music is Amazing. Still.
The peeps behind Communion Music and The Flowerpot are teaming up for a collaborative musical project from July 12th- 18th. What does this mean?? Well, I will let the Flowerpot tell you itself.
From their website:
Flowerpot are teaming up with the Communion team for an original and extremely exciting project. In this one week in July we’re turning the venue into a recording studio, bands will be invited to The Flowerpot with the idea of collaborating with other musicians. Songs will be written, songs will be recorded, gigs will be played, gigs will be recorded, photos will be taken and films will be made. The whole thing will then be compiled into a double album that will be released later in the year.
So who will be involved in this effort? According to the website, Red Hot Velvet, there will be several of the Communion Music artists, including, yes, one Mr. Marcus Foster!
The likes of Mt Desolation, Lissie, Angus & Julia Stone, Kill It Kid, Matthew & The Atlas and members of Mumford & Sons will spend the week working on new songs together, alongside a host of exciting young artists including Communion signing Marcus Foster, Kyla La Grange, and The Staves all for a future album release.
And here I was all sadpanda missing him! Obviously he reads SoS and decided to let me know what’s been going on*. Duh.
Now just because we are over here in the States doesn’t mean that we won’t be able to join in the fun, so to speak. What do I mean by that?? Well, upon further investigation, I noticed on the Communion website a log-in section for exclusive content of this upcoming project. There are only a couple of test posts up currently, but I am hoping that this page will be updated nightly with small samples of each night. One can only hope, right? So, if you are interested, take a moment and register yourself HERE. It looks to be hosted on a wordpress format so I am thinking that if you already have a WP login that you can just use that. I went ahead and set up a new one, specifically for their site so if your current log-in doesn’t work….well….then feel free to leave me rude comments about how I wasted your time.
So, are you as excited about this as I am?? Or do you live in London and plan on attending a session or six two? If you are, please let us know! I would love to hear about this from someone who is there!
Also, while we gotcha online here, do you follow us on Twitter?? Why not? Come join us and be there for when Amber gets drunk. Again. Her #drunktweets are WIN.
