Wake up with Bobby!

This past Thursday, Bobby Long was back in the States, performing at the Canal Room in NYC.  The performance was part of the CMJ Fest, which is basically a 5 day industry showcase for both musicians and moviemakers.  Of course, being the stalker good little blogger that I am, I immediately went searching on Friday for any videos of his performance– only to come up short.  I figured someone out there somewhere had to video at least one song, right?!

As luck would have it someone did! Our twitter friend, @Pattinson411, tweeted us a link to chococatny’s YouTube account, where they posted two videos of Bobby’s performance Thursday.

::le sigh:: Love these two songs! Thanks to @Pattinson411 for the heads up and of course to chococatny for taking the time to video and post these!

PS- are you excited that Bobby is back in the States and ready to tour again?? Where are you planning to see him?? If you don’t have your tickets yet, get on that!  ;)

As we mentioned earlier in the week, Bobby is back in the States to perform at the CMJ Fest in New York.  This will be the first show to kick off the Fall installation of his Dangerous Summer Tour.

Monica Gleberman, the NY Pop Examiner for Examiner.com, also touches on Bobby’s return to America in her recent article:

The tour has taken in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Spain and the UK and is now set to continue with a further 38 US shows before ending at the Mercury Lounge in NYC on the 19th December.

According to Monica’s article, the tour has been so succesful in Europe, that it has led to Bobby’s manager, Phil Taylor to schedule future European dates:

Says Taylor, “We were holding off booking a longer European tour in January, as we have been waiting for confirmation of dates in Australia, New Zealand and Japan for that period. Unfortunately these dates were not confirmed in time for our plans, so we have decided that Bobby Long will tour Europe again in January and February before heading back to America for SXSW and another major American and Canadian tour from late March to August.” “Bobby and I were really looking forward to him playing for the many Australian fans who email us, but I am sorry to say we will have to wait a little longer before getting over there.”

And what about any future albums? Are there any in the works?

Bobby has been in the studio this week with Liam Watson at Toe Rag Studios in east London. Early rough mixes are sounding very strong and Bobby has clearly gelled with his band. So far five tracks are complete and ready to be mixed.

Also, out there on the interwebs, is a fun new interview with Bobby from the gals at The Fash-Pack.  This interview covers everything from the standard ”what are you up to currently” to who is his favorite WWE wrestler and who he would kiss under the mistletoe.  My fave question/answer was this one:

FP: Who would you kiss, marry and avoid out of – Kate Moss – Kate Winslet and Katy Perry

BL: Oh I would Avoid Kate Moss, Marry Kate Winslet ( She has a farm right?) and kiss Katy Perry.

Bobby Long selected by Hidden Track as one to look out for during the CMJ Fest

This coming Thursday, Bobby Long will perform at The Canal Room as part of the CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival in New York City.  This long running, legendary festival showcases all that is new on the independent music front.

Hidden Track, a subset of Glide Magazine, published a special Friday Mix Tape edition focusing on ten artists to look out for during the CMJ Fest.  One of those artists was one Mr. Bobby Long, specifically his song, “Being a Mockingbird”.

This is great news for Bobby as this 5-day festival is basically one big industry showcase that brings artists and music professionals together.  So, Congrats to Bobby and best of luck this week!

PS– did you happen to enjoy our first New Music Monday artist Greg Holden?  He is also performing at CMJ this year.  You can check him out on Friday, October 23rd at 8pm at the Rockwood Music Hall.

Marcus’ American Tour Ends But New Music Could Be Released!

Today, Marcus sent us all a couple of messages via Twitter:

MF Tweet 1And then…

MF Tweet 2

So while all of U.S. folks are sad to see him go, I am personally excited for the opportunity for some new tracks, and live ones at that! He does promise a return just in time for the holidays (and what a great Christmas present Marcus tickets would be, right?), and we will post new tour dates as they come up!

If you are not following Marcus on Twitter, what are you waiting for? Do it now by clicking on his Twitter link in the links menu!

Great Review of Marcus’ Concert at Arlene’s Grocery

Looks like Marcus has earned himself another fan with the Examiner.com’s New York Folk Arts Examiner, Kerri Maniscalco. She wrote a great review of his concert and I think summed up his stage presence really well.

He packed such a solid punch with his performance that the crowd looked on in silent awe for a good portion of the show. He is unlike any other musician on stage. Witty and entertaining, he regaled the crowd with excerpts of what occurred on his current tour of the United States. Foster’s voice is a powerful force that leaves you breathless for a minute while you take in the pounding intensity of his finger picking style of guitar playing. While strumming his acoustic guitar soulfully he also hits the side of the instrument like a drum, sending chills through the crowd of eager onlookers. It’s a unique accompaniment, adding dimension to his music.

Definitely a good read, which you can catch in full right here! And much love and thanks to ADeweese for pointing this story out to me.
