iProng Magazine sits down with Bobby Long

iProng Magazine recently sat down with Bobby in New York and asked him a few questions about inspiration, death and where he’d like to live.  It’s a relatively short interview but it does give a bit more insight into Bobby’s personality.  And it asks the question that I have always wondered about– where did he (and Sam and Marcus) get their love for the older bands that influence their sound so much.  Here is a little sample:

Q: The first thing I noticed when I looked at your website was that the influences you’ve listed include a lot of older bands, Gram Parsons, The Band. Were you raiding your parents’ record collection growing up?

A: Yeah I did a bit. I was quite luck that I had parents who grew up in the sixties and they’re big music lovers, so I just nicked stuff off them. And I was always looking for new stuff myself. Even my uncle as well as a musician, so he influenced me a lot and he was always giving me CDs, as young as seven, with Gram Parsons on it and Emmylou Harris and all these wonderful people.
